2017 Exchange Program Continues...
The inspiration comes primarily from the simple joy of exchanging marbles and stickers as a child. Through this exchange, we aim to explore different perspectives on the value of items. The interesting thing about "object-to-object" exchange is that it’s not strictly about price. As economist Adam Smith (1723-1790) once pointed out, "Before there was money, people exchanged seven chickens for a sheep or a bag of grain for a pair of sandals." In fact, what is exchanged are not only physical items but also intangible things like recognition, respect, and emotions.
We hope to use the most primal tribal spirit to exchange items, offering what we consider to be of equal value to experience African tribal trading!
Subjective value exists in the individual’s mind, and money is just an easily understood measuring tool. The results of the exchange reflect the fun differences in how each person defines value.
We invite you to join us in experiencing African tribal trading!
"2017 - Searching for 39 Heartfelt Feelings" Special Exhibition - The exhibition will present works exchanged in pairs, showcasing tribal art alongside exchanged pieces, creating a new visual dialogue and perspective.
For us, exchange is about finding things that we each like. Because liking something is what generates value in our hearts. If you don’t like something, no matter how expensive it is, it will only remain valuable to its owner.
A Look Back at the 2016 Exchange Program...
Last year, we held a successful item-for-item exchange exhibition, exchanging with 28 participants. Participants engaged in various forms of exchange, such as custom creative themes or tables made for specific needs. We are glad that everyone enjoyed this special program, and everyone felt satisfied with the "collecting" experience. The exhibition also presented different visual experiences.
The 44GALLERY will exhibit 39 tribal artworks as exchange items, and these will be announced on the 44GALLERY Facebook page. [www.facebook.com/44GALLERY]
