這場跨越日本與非洲的「二刀流」，從一顆真實的棒球開始——2018年5月26日，洛杉磯天使對紐約


洋基的比賽實戰球，由大谷翔平與 Mike Trout 親筆簽名。





展覽將這顆 MLB 實戰球與非洲部落藝術中「一身二首」的人像雕塑並置，從形式與觀念上展開一場


跨文化對話。


展出的作品包括布吉納法索、剛果地區，以及木木耶族與雷加族的雙頭人物造型，在某些非洲文


化的雕像傳統中，雙頭並不代表人格的分裂，而可能意味著觀看能力的擴張：一個身體能同時看


向不同方向，跨越可見與不可見、現實與精神、此方與彼方。






非洲雕塑以一個身體承載兩個頭部，大谷翔平則以同一個身體完成投球與打擊，兩者看似來自截


然不同的文化與世界，卻在一體雙能的視覺想像中產生有趣的連結。投手丘上的他必須研究打


者、控制節奏；打擊區裡的他則必須閱讀投手、等待出手。兩個立場彼此對立，卻存在於同一個


人的身體與意識之中。





「二刀流」並不是將大谷翔平神化，也不是以現代運動來解釋非洲文化。這是一場跨越時間、地域


與文化的觀看實驗：我們從熟悉的大谷翔平出發，重新凝視這些雙頭雕像；也透過古老而陌生的


形體，重新理解二刀流帶來的震撼。






雙頭不是兩個彼此分裂的人，二刀流也不是兩份能力的簡單相加。它們所指向的，是一個身體容


納兩種視野，一個生命跨越兩個世界。當兩種力量不再彼此排斥，而在同一個存在中同時完成，


異常便不再只是例外，而可能成為一種前所未見的新典範。




一身，兩界。

This cross-cultural dialogue between Japan and Africa begins with a real baseball—a game-

used MLB baseball from the May 26, 2018 game between the Los Angeles Angels and the New

York Yankees, signed by Shohei Ohtani and Mike Trout.

The exhibition places this baseball alongside two-headed figures from African tribal art,

creating a dialogue between sport and sculpture, Japan and Africa.



In some African sculptural traditions, two heads on one body can suggest expanded vision—the

ability to look in different directions and embrace different perspectives.



Shohei Ohtani’s “Nito-ryu,” or two-way style, similarly brings pitching and hitting together

within one body. Two seemingly opposite abilities coexist in a single athlete.

The two-headed figure and the two-way player may come from completely different cultural

worlds, yet both offer a powerful image of duality: one body, two perspectives; one existence,

two worlds.



This exhibition is not about comparing cultures, but about discovering unexpected connections

through art, sport, and the way we see.
